Where do the government release reports and legislation?

I always hear on the news "Government plans to do something were unveiled today...", "A new piece of legislation by the government was released today..." and "New government report on whatever was released yesterday...". Where exactly is all of this released? I can never find it, but the media always talk about it.Where do the government release reports and legislation?
