Since the Health Care legislation is very similar to past GOP proposals, why is everyone so upset?

Many of the components are similar to what Nixon tried, Reagan tried and earlier work done by the GOP during the 1994-2006 time frame.



Especially since there is no "single payor" component, why is the right so mad and upset?



Is it just because of Obama, so it's the hate/fear strategy ?Since the Health Care legislation is very similar to past GOP proposals, why is everyone so upset?
It's all because of the party, not Obama. Republicans started pretty early on with a strategy to reject and defame any and all legislation and actions done by Obama to try and create a culture of dissent much like the Democrats did with Bush. The only difference is the Republicans demonize literally everything Obama does, from sitting down on his chair the wrong way to not wearing a flag pin to buying hamburgers.
Yeah I just hate obamacare.



Look I kinda like the forced health insurance thing, but the way obama has done it will eventually put private sector health insurance out of business, and then the government will take over with single payer, all because of the pre-existing conditions law, and the penalty for no health insurance is much lower then the cost of health insurance.



This will allow people to just pay the fine, and then when they are sick buy the insurance. This will destroy private health insurance.



See obama wants the single payer healthcare, and he was forced to settle with mandatory health insurance, but do not be fooled, obama will still push for single payer, and there is no GOP member past or present that wants single payer healthcare.



Despite why obama has said, he and the congressional democrats want SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE, there is not doubt.



Single payer has been the ultimate liberal democrat dream for 75 years.Since the Health Care legislation is very similar to past GOP proposals, why is everyone so upset?
Some people don't live in the past and instead look at what a piece of legislation will do. Obamacare is specifically designed to completely destroy the existing health care system, leaving no one left but government to ride in on their silver steed to save the day by determining an emergency and implementing full control over health care.



The usual case of government regulation causing private industry to be unable to operate efficiently or effectively yet then they'll turn around and say "see, we need more regulation".
They are similar in that they all had "health" and "care" as words in the proposals. The real concern, however, is the growth in bureaucracy and the level of government involvement in the final product.Since the Health Care legislation is very similar to past GOP proposals, why is everyone so upset?
I don't support any plan that involves government intervention in the private sector, even if it's a GOP plan. I don't like them any more than I like the DNC. My belief in the ideal of individual liberty is consistent.
thats what ive been saying all along! obama is exactly like bush and every president for the past 50 years has increased the federal governments role in medicine! and look where it has gotten us!
Because the public didn't want those proposals either.
