Hello, Friend of Alice, it's deplorable that your have negative things to say about something you obviously know nothing about. You CAN treat a headache with marijuana. I very closely know a person with glaucoma, another with PTSD and another with fibro myalgia who all use marijuana to treat they're ailments. Quite an array of ailments, eh? You obviously don't know what it's like to smoke when you're not feeling well. I doubt you would be so quick to condemn it. If we don't have to have the government's permission to take a Tylenol than we most certainly don't need they're permission to self medicate with something just about everyone in the US could grow in their own backyard (or closet) - especially when the side effects are pretty much nonexistent! If you're seriously worried about the 'deplorable' state of our society (all people included) then maybe you should focus on something that causes surmountable damage such as alcohol, ciggs, prescription medication, carbon emissions or humans in general. There are bigger fights - but a lot of people are against marijuana because it's an easy battle. It's already illegal therefore people feel justified condemning it, despite having never smoked or eaten it. That false sense of superiority you're carrying around so proudly in your ignorance won't last for much longer. Maybe if you tried a little you might have the insight to see past the BS the government has fabricated for you. Since you probably won't, I'm sorry to tell you that your perfect little world is soon going to have a heck of a lot more pot plants growing on it than it does now with millions more people using them. Deplorable. Lol. That must be stressful. :DHow many states have passed legislation permitting medical use of marijuana?
Several. If this is a topic of interest to you I would suggest visiting norml.org or .com

The really negative thing(at least to me) is the movement to gain public support for the medicinal option was based on it providing relief for the suffering of cancer patients or those with certain terminal illnesses. However(at least in California), what was once an argument for compassion has been used to push through for full legalization for everything ranging what it was originally intended for to a headache.

To me exploiting the terminally ill is deplorable regardless of how positive you feel your intentions are.

To Amber Dawn: Whoah girl take it easy there...

I don't why you would assume I don't have personal experience with something like this before taking the stance that I do but I can only assume your reaction is based on other people so it seems valid to you take offense...

That being said...

I never said that I don't believe marijuana can be a positive thing or that I feel it should be kept from anyone in particular. Like you I can only base my argument on what I've been made aware of either through my own investigation and/or research.

As a medicinal marijuana patient for a few years I personally never received any relief from the migraines I suffered by smoking marijuana alone. If you did then great! However I don't feel that it's fair to condemn me based on the assumption that I would venture to go out on a limb while having no personal experience in the matter.

No it is the fact that the advocates for legalization outright LIED to the public about their intentions and exploited those with terminal illness then changed their tune which I find deplorable.

If you disagree then that's fine and I respect the fact you seem to have conviction just as I would hope that you would have respect for my views.

However if I was actually against legalization it probably wouldn't influence my position to list all sorts of things which don't affect your system negatively in nearly as many ways as the abuse of marijuana does.

Just a thought Amber but you can take comfort in the fact that it will be legalized if not for the right reasons. Apparently the hippies got tired of waiting and resorted to desperate measures. Obama is on our privately if not publicly.
